Our apartment always feels like a work in progress, and I’m okay with that! Part of it might be because my boyfriend likes to move furniture around every couple weeks, but part of it is just that there are always new ideas and possibilities for what you can do with your space. And now that more people are working from a home office, there are even more decorating opportunities!
Working with small spaces has kinda been my thing for the past couple years since I’ve, well, lived in small spaces. Sometimes I think back on my cluttered bedroom at my parents’ house and wonder how I was ever able to downsize. Don’t get me wrong – I still have a bit of a clutter problem, but I do my best to place things intentionally and I love the challenge of creating efficient storage space.
After about a year of sitting in the same workspace, I decided it needed a little sprucing up. Nothing huge – I like my desk and chair; I mostly wanted to change up the decorations and some organization items.
So here’s the fun part. Before and after! Move the slider to see how I changed things up.

So, still lots of orange (I love orange) and lots of stuff (I love stuff). It took me forever to find little drawers that would fit in the lower part of my desk, but I didn’t give up. And I’m so happy with the vintage mail holder hanging on the wall.
I also tried out washi tape and vinyl frames for the first time and I’m pretty obsessed. I love how light they are, and how they’re a piece of art themselves.

One bonus – since my back hurts all the damn time, I became a Standing Desk Person! But just some of the time. I have a comfy mat to stand on and a tray that lifts up my laptop.

It took several weeks to pull everything together, and it was worth the wait! And of course I left room for enhancements.

Aaand here’s where I got everything:
Slow and Steady Print from Visual Splat (it me)
Bird prints from Katie Crawford, Felicia Chiao, The Mincing Mockingbird, and Picomodi
Washi tape from Nutmeg & Arlo
Calendar from Current Shapes
Vinyl birds from Abby’s Vinyl Wall Art (when I raise my monitor to stand at my desk, it looks like the birds are sitting on the monitor!)
Cross stitch patterns from Stitchy Little Fox and Kamoodles Krafts
Desk mat from Blush & Thorn
Vintage memo holder from Susan’s Favourites
Pink organizers from YesStyle
Computer tray from Wayfair
Molang stickers from Wacky Mail Pop
Do you have a fun desk setup in your home office or at work? I’d love to see it or hear about it!
